Selling your home in the Golden Isles? Lets talk about your curb-appeal!
I had the pleasure of meeting with some potential clients last week, and during the course of our consultation they told me how much they disliked their home the first time they saw it with their Realtor®. I found this amusing as they ended up purchasing the home, lived in it for several years, and are now so sad to be leaving it. They were able to see past the front door and envision themselves in the home, but it got me thinking about others. How many home buyers have the ability to see past the front door? Better yet, how many buyers will not even bother touring your home because of their first impressions? Can you afford to see those potential buyers go? Lets talk about curb-appeal. If you’re getting ready to put your home on the market, take a few moments to think about these suggestions. I think you will find that improving your curb-appeal will go a long way in the marketing of your home.
1. Lawn Care: This may seem like the most basic of ideas, however you would be surprised how easily overlooked lawn care is. Personally, I’m ready for Spring to roll in and the grass to be green – but we’re not there yet! In the meantime, don’t overlook your yard. Trim bushes, hedges and trees. Trim around sidewalks, driveways and stepping-stones. In St. Simons, we have what seems like never-ending dirty gutters, please clean them! Remember, little things go a long way.
2. Spruce Up Your Finishes: When is the last time you looked at your house numbers? Could they use a fresh coat of paint? Or, new numbers all together? How about your mailbox, what impression will it give your potential buyers? Little things like new house numbers, a new mailbox, or even a new welcome mat will give those touring your home a sense of freshness. They may not notice the little things individually, but together those little things will make your home feel fresh and new.
3. Plants: Simply put, planting some flowers or bringing in some potted plants can increase your curb-appeal tremendously. They can bring a little bit of color and life to a home. On the other side of the coin, dead plants and flowers need to be removed.
4. Paint and Pressure Washing: If you’re serious about selling and your house hasn’t been painted or pressure washed in quite some time … now is the time. Remember, you want those buyers to love what you have to offer and getting them in the front door is key!
These are our suggestions. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us. And, if you are putting your home on the market or looking for homes for sale on St. Simons Island or in Brunswick, Georgia we would be more than happy to assist you.
Thanks for visiting, and have a great day!
